We encourage instructors to make use of online versions or alternatives as much as possible to replace physical reserve materials, as this makes materials more accessible to students. Please contact Library Express at express.library@eku.edu if you need help investigating whether an online version is available for a reserve item. Please use the reserves request form to begin the process of placing a physical item on reserve.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your library liaison or contact Library Express directly at express.library@eku.edu.

Q. What are Course Reserves?
A. Course Reserves, or reserve readings, are books, journal articles, DVDs, or other items that your instructor places on hold for you at EKU Libraries and support the instructional requirements of your specific course(s). Many Reserves are online, but many are available only at a library.

Q. How do I check out an item on reserve?
A. Some reserves can be accessed online using a password given to you by your instructor. Physical items can be checked out from the library using your EKU ID or current photo ID.

Q. How long can I have an item that is on reserve?
A. Books, videos and other physical items are placed on reserve for short periods of time, from two hours to a few days. Some materials must be used only in the library.
